Pollution

The Blue Trail river walk explores the last stretch of the Hennops River, but sadly to this day is still the most polluted river in South Africa.

Although we try our very best to clean up after every flooding, unfortunately the cities pollution has left its mark on our trail and this is a stark reminder that our environmental problems just don’t wash away!

We’re simply asking for your assistance in creating awareness around river pollution.

If you want to make a difference we would be happy to refund your hiking fee for collecting only one full bag of rubbish.

Fill one black bag, leave it for us to collect, take a photo of the bag and send the picture to us for a full refund.

For every additional bag we will give you 50 loyalty bugs. Sign up for free.

Your effort is much appreciated, thank you!

Invasive Species

The Pompom weed is an erect perennial with green stems up to 1,3m high. It dies back annually to a root crown. Pink flowerheads surrounded by purple bracts in compact heads appear from December to March. This plant is native to Central and South America.

It causes serious degradation of the veld, lowering the biodiversity and reducing the grazing capacity by being unpalatable to large herbivores.

If you want to make a difference we would be happy to refund your hiking fee for collecting only one bag full of pompom.

Fill one black bag, leave it for us to collect, take a photo of the bag and send the picture to us for a full refund.
